Strategic Aim

Provide Supports to the Cultural and Creative Sector

Project Description

Galway County Council Arts Office, Galway City Council Arts Office and Galway Culture Company in partnership with Visual Artists Ireland hosted several professional development events in 2023 for Galway City and County visual artists. These events were informed by feedback received from you.

Galway City and County visual artists attended a Visual Artists Café at the end of 2022 and responded to a survey. There were 79 survey responses and over 50 joined a lively discussion about how this programme can serve Galway artists. While we’re not in a position to tackle all of the issues raised in the feedback through this programme, we thank artists for continuing to point to larger issues that require long term planning and significant resources to address.

As part of this programme seven events were scheduled in 2023. These events were free for artists based in Galway City and County.

Events that took place include:

Visual Artists Cafe: Funding and Opportunities (Galway City and County)

Visual Artists Café: Webinar – Networking Event

Visual Artists Café: Webinar – Dignity at Work

VAI Lifelong Learning Clinics: The Artist’s Guide to Tax for Galway Artists

VAI Lifelong Learning Webinar: An Artist’s Guide to Tax

Visual Artists Café: Unlocking the Power of Social Media for Artists

Visual Artists Café: Introducing Co. Galway
