Formed in 2015 to develop a downtown Galway City Innovation District GCID currently has two innovation hubs in the heart of downtown Galway City Centre. The focus of the PorterShed Hubs is growing indigenous tech start-ups and innovating existing and new technologies. Home to 40 plus tech start-ups the PorterShed is a hive of activity, In addition to the creation of high value sustainable jobs in the West of Ireland the PorterShed also host a range of Arts, Culture and Creative Industry supports, including monthly art exhibitions, GameJams, Little Cinema, Baboro and more. The PorterShed buildings are a living space with an open door policy, welcoming entrepreneurs across all sectors to engage and learn together.
