Project Description
In 2022, Galway’s biggest annual business event, the Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, celebrated culture and creativity as part of its celebration of business in Galway.
The inaugural Culture and Creativity Award was established and supported by the Galway Culture Company in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce to celebrate and recognise the cultural sector in Galway and its contribution to business in the city.
The inaugural (2022) winner was Galway Community Circus. A special President’s award was also given to Garry Hynes, Founding Artistic Director of Druid Theatre.
The 2023 winner was Baboró International Arts Festival for Children. Baboro was also announced as the overall business winner for 2023.
Projects outcomes-what we expect from this project
To recognise and highlight the value and appreciation of culture in Galway and the arts sector’s contributions to economic, social and tourism development across the city.
How is this project funded
This project is funded by the Galway Culture Company, which is supported by the Government of Ireland under the National Development Plan through the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
